The girl isn’t afraid of commitment. She’s afraid of loss.
She flits around from one person to the next on purpose. Not because she likes getting all that different attention, but because she’s scared to attach her self to just one person.
She’s scared that’ll she’ll grow too attached to that person, and in the end, they’ll leave her all alone, just like everyone else.
Hence the distance she purposely puts between herself and him.
It’s better this way, isn’t it? To cut ties before she grows too attached, and comes to anticipating seeing him again. Pining for him. Needing him. His mere presence is enough to cause her thoughts to become an incoherent jumble.
So instead of that, she decides to end things. Before she falls in too deep. She asks herself, is this the right choice? The more time she spends with him, the less sure she is.
But it’s for the best.
For she has thantophobia-the fear of losing someone you love.
So she makes it so that there is no one she loves.
